3. Compare the full address
Do not compare only the logo or first word. Inspect the full domain, suffix and subdomain. A shortened link, IP address, HTTP connection, embedded credentials or lookalike characters deserves an independent check.
4. Verify outside the original message
If an advert, SMS or message supplied the URL, do not use the same thread to verify it. Type a known official address or use a contact channel you already knew. This helps break a cloned-page loop.
5. Product images do not prove the offer
SERNAC has reported an e-commerce case involving AI-made imagery and misleading product claims. A polished image does not replace checking the provider, delivery, returns, identity and payment method.
6. Pause when payment pressure is unresolved
Read contact details, legal identity, delivery and return terms before payment. If urgency or a hard-to-reverse payment method is the only path, stop and obtain independent confirmation. Never paste passwords, codes or payment details into this tool.
